David Crosby, pioneer of folk-rock, died

David Crosby, musical pioneer of the 1960s and 1970s, has died 81 years oldconfirmaron este jueves medios estudiantes.

The singer, guitarist and composer, born in California, was the son of the filmmaker Floyd Crosby. He began his musical career in childhood together with his brother, later developed his professional career together with singer Roger McGuinn.

Crosby and McGuinn formed in 1964 The Byrds con los músicos Gene Clark and Chris Hillman. The group obtained a great recognition a year later when they presented their version of Bob Dylan’s classic “Mr. Tambourine Man”, que dio nombre a su disco debut, con canciones como “Turn Turn Turn”.

His adventure with The Byrds culminated in his expulsion from the group in 1967. Later, Crosby founded the folk-rock band together with Stills and Graham Nash. Crosby, Stills & Nasha la que más adelante se sumó el cantante canadiense Neil Young.

The group gave its first concert as a trio at the Woodstock festival in 1969.

Crosby continued as a soloist and the last disco he presented was in 2021 under the name “For Free”.

Ante la noticia de su muerte no tardaron en llover los homenajes en redes sociales.

“No sé qué decir, salvo que me rompe el corazón oír lo de David Crosby”, he tweeted Brian Wilson, co-founder of the Beach Boys. “David was an incredible talent (…) a great singer and composer. Y una persona maravillosa”.

El rockero Jason Isbell se sumó al mensaje: “Thank you for the time we spent with David Crosby. Lo extrañaremos mucho”.
