The withdrawal of Russian troops from Kiev and the north-east of the country is “largely complete”. In about a week, Moscow forces will reposition themselves in Donbas, US officials say.

With the traditional Victory Day parade in Russia approaching May 9, Putin wants to show the results of the invasion before the Russian people. And faced with the lack of control of the Ukrainian capital, now the focus will be on the eastern Donbas region.

There are some indications that they have left mines and such, so Ukrainians are paying some attention in some areas north of Kyiv as they start clearing the land, clearing the territory and reoccupying it.a US official said ABC news.

According to US intelligence, Putin’s rush to show some success of his invasion to the citizens of his country can generate tensions among Russian army commanders who want to do things in a timely manner, without the pressure of domestic politics, has reported The Guardian.

Russia is looking, according to analysts, concentrate the offensive in the south and east of Ukraine, in order to occupy the entire Donbas and create territorial continuity with the Crimean peninsulaattached in 2014.

The Ukrainian authorities have invited the people of those territories to leave as soon as possible towards the west.

The choice is to do it “now” or “I risk death”Said Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.

The journalists of the AFP The bombings were recorded Wednesday in Severodonetsk, a pre-war city of over 100,000, near the first line with the pro-Russian separatist territories of Donbas.

We know that the Russians are strengthening and preparing to attackA senior Ukrainian official told AFP in the city of Krasnopilia, in Donbas. “We are ready, we have prepared some surprises for you along the way”.

The Russians made some unsuccessful attempts to penetrate the heart of Kyiv and then tried to surround the capital, venturing further west. Against all odds, the Ukrainians stood still and kept the Russians at bay, using Western-supplied weapons to great effect, including portable anti-tank equipment, shoulder-mounted Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, and more.

Last week the Russians left Hostomel as part of a much larger retreat.

A memorable aspect of the battle for Kiev was the presence of an advertised Russian supply caravan several kilometers long on one of the main routes to the capital. Initially he frightened the Ukrainians, but his forces managed to launch attacks and disperse the caravan to such an extent that it did not affect the war.

At no time did they offer significant supply to the forces deployed around Kiev, they never contributed in any wayUS Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said. “The Ukrainians stopped that caravan quite quickly, breaking down bridges, attacking the vanguard and managing very nimbly.”

One expert says the Russians underestimated the number of troops they would need and showed a “shocking inability” to perform basic military functions. They miscalculated what they needed to capture Kiev, he said.

It would have been tough even if the Russian military had been competent“, he has declared. “But he proved unable to wage a modern war.”

Putin is not the only one surprised by his army’s initial stumbling block. Western experts predicted that, in the event of an invasion, Ukraine would fall shortly and the Russians would take the capital within days and the country within weeks. Some analysts have questioned whether Putin had adequately weighed the level of training Ukrainians received from the West, especially after the Russian capture of Crimea and his foray into Donbas.

On March 25, a month after the invasion began, the russians claimed to have achieved their goals in the kyiv region and would have focused on the breakaway Donbas zone in eastern ukraine. Some speculated that Putin wanted to buy time without giving up on his goal, but in a few days the withdrawal from Kiev was impossible to disguise.
